We review and respond to requests from Federal and State Government bodies

The Australian Credit Forum Inc. was established in the early '70's when a group of Senior Credit Professionals felt that there was a need to establish an Association where the Members would meet on a regular basis to network and by the exchange of thoughts and ideas, build and strengthen their own credit standards and knowledge.

The Forum, as it became known, would allow the Members to review and discuss existing and proposed changes to Federal and State Government legislation that might have an impact on their Company's credit policies and practices and on their roles as Credit Professionals.

Articles of Association

The Forum is governed by an Articles of Association that sets out the aims and objectives of the Association and the rules that govern it and membership.

Executive Management Committee

The Forum is managed on a day-to-day basis by a three (3) person Executive Management Committee, comprising a Chairman, Deputy Chairman and Secretary/Treasurer, who are elected by the Members at the Annual General Meeting.

Sub-Committees

The Forum has created a number of Sub-Committees, each with a specific charter to focus on different aspects of credit management functionality. These Sub-Committees consist of Members with the necessary knowledge, experience and qualifications.

Membership

Membership is restricted to fifty (50) Members who are nominated by active Members and invited to join the Association, after their nomination is reviewed by the Membership Sub-Committee.

Members are drawn from all areas of the Credit Profession and industry groups. Every effort is made to ensure that particular industries are not over represented by restricting the number of members from the same industry group.

The membership is made up of professional Senior Credit Managers covering a broad range of industry groups, members of the legal profession (Barristers, Solicitors and Lawyers), Liquidators together with insolvency and Bankruptcy Trustees, Credit Insurance Underwriters and Brokers, Mercantile Agents and Credit Reporting Agencies.

With the membership being drawn from a broad range of industry groups, it ensures that each industry group has input into proposed or existing legislation that The Forum may put forward to Federal and State Government bodies.

This spread of membership ensures that proposed changes that may impact one particular area but not another, is considered by a broad range of professional Senior Credit Managers and other affiliates, in their respective areas of expertise.
